Statement

The Center student coalition with the members of the Center would like to respond to the self-government elections held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

For a long time, the existing system of student self-government has been far removed from the needs and interests of students. This is evidenced by the authoritarian legal system established in the form of a charter, zero involvement in the management of the university, and the non-existent component of accountability.

It is unfortunate that such a system is compounded by external interference from state structures.
The solution lies in amending the Law on Higher Education, which should allow for a pluralistic student environment and give young people the opportunity to receive equal access to the resources available at the university.
