Petition of the Center for Progress and the Movement “For People” – to halve tuition fees in universities and the government’s silence on our request

On December 2, 2020, the Center for Progress together with the Movement “For People” published a petition for suspended students. In the form of a petition, we address the Government of Georgia with 2 main requests.

1) Due to the problems caused by the pandemic, the tuition fee in universities must be halved

2) Students, who had suspended their status due to Covid-19 and financial debts in 2020, universities must reinstate their students’ status

Students faced many challenges due to the pandemic, they and their parents lost their jobs. Therefore, they do not have the financial ability to pay tuition fees in these difficult socio-economic conditions.

Unfortunately, the government does not break the silence on the 76,000 suspended students.
